Hey guys, im getting a vacuum meter from ftzone too and i need some guide connecting the hose. Im driving wira 1.3 carburetor so need to know where to tap the vacuum hose.
I know got one hose connected to the bottom part of the air filter and the front part of the air filter inlet pipe. I dont see why the air filter need vacuum. Is it because to suck air in kah? I remember last time when i installed open pod air filter(powerflow), that one vacuum hose was unattached and i had to blocked it off if not my engine would have a rough idle(rpm goes up and down).
If i should tap from there, should i just unplug the vacuum hose to the air filter or should i leave the hose attached to the air filter and add a t joint?
Thanks!! <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle'

aikss...that opening is so hidden and space is narrow ler, hard to take photo... ...it's at the left side of siren...got cable or whatever thing come out from there also...Originally posted by drexchan@Apr 7 2005, 18:23
jaywat,
mind to show me which opening on the fire wall did you use? I am about to install one too.. Got everything ready except the meter hahaha!!!
hmm.. about the grounding cable, it's actually 6ga skin and 8ga core. As examined by some of our gang that 'sacrifice' one cable due to its length. By the way, the 'think skin' so looks nice..
khguan is selling off his, any taker? haha!! I am selling off mine too (cheapskate DIY).. any taker?
Anyway, thank you in advance for the photos on how you pass the tube over the firewall.

Won't affect much one...if u seal every connection point properly.. B) ...best way to know that u have install everything properly is reading the vacuum meter... ;)Originally posted by friggles@Apr 7 2005, 18:00
Oh, so tap anywhere also can lah. Wont affect reading much right?
Whats the usual vacuum for 1.3 without air con and with air con. Any ideas?
BTW, whats a microcompressor and what does it do?

I think my reading is around that also...different meter kuaOriginally posted by friggles@Apr 8 2005, 23:33
Hey guys, i got my vacuum meter from ftzone today and installed it this afternoon.
Anyway, i just need to clarify on one the reading. I didnt tap my vacuum from the air filter there but i tapped from the er...a small black hose from the engine block there. It leads to a t-joint where from there it goes to the back of the carburetor and another to a small gadget(dunno what is it for) mounted at the firewall.
I saw my friend tapped his after that t-joint(for his car) but i tapped mine before the t-joint. Ok, the readings i got problem.
If i on engine, my reading would be around 20-22 without air con and 15-17 with air con on. The readings are quite the same for my friend but the problem is that, if he rev his engine, his readings can get to 0 easily, but i cant. The most i think i can get is 5psi. SO which should be the right one?
BTW, he's using a chepear Type-R brand vacuum meter while im using auto gauge smoked series, not so 'keng' also but better than his.
Just wondering any problems with my engine or his or maybe installed salah...anything....please let me know. Thanks! <!--emo&--><img src='style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle'

hi friggles.. u the sarawakian? hmmm  u can only get 0psi reading easily when your engine is underload.. meaning.. at certain gear and throttle ler... on a stand still cannot get 0psi ler... btw... the best vacuum source would be from the intake manifold...Originally posted by friggles@Apr 8 2005, 23:33
