Hey all,

I am looking into buying a double DIN HU and I have troubles differentiating between the 2 below :-

Alpine IDA-W502E
Alpine IDA-W520E

As far as I know, the 520 is a newer model as compared to the 502 but it is also much cheaper than the 502.

I tried searching online and I couldn't find any comparison between those 2, thus I am in a dilemma now.

Does anyone know the difference between these 2 models ?
Would appreciate if I could get some opinion on this.

Thank you in advance :)

If u intent to install Processor-H701 (now or future) your choice is 502 or else your choice is 520.

Thank you hardbass, I realized that the 520 does not have optical out. I do not intent to go hardcore on my ICE but there is no knowing whether do I want a hxa or not.

I really am having a hard time differenciating between these 2, some says the 520 uses an LED screen but some says they are the same.

Confused...

In my opinion, 502 look better "jio" not matter screen or the outlook it self.
Just my 2 cent anyway

Hardbass, your 2 cents are worth millions to me. For someone who doesn't have that much to invest into ICEs I want to make sure I make the right choice.

I have been using Alpines for a long long time but I have never played with mobile media stations. Use to use amps and woofer but at this point of time I am not investing into those yet, am quite surprised that the sound on my stock components are very acceptable with the Ida-x305.

I had the luxury to test both the units just now, and hardbass you are right, outlook wise the 502 wins hands down. However since the 520 is a replacement model the firmware is more "modernized". Video wise they are both exactly the same.

To connect to the processor, the 502 uses optical out which the cable alone costs a bomb, the 520 runs on analog. Downside is both the sets don't display Chinese at all !!! :( :( :(

So at this stage, my heart is more toasted the 502 but of course, I'm still as confused :p

oshann,

thanks for the offer, but i didn't want to install the E series cause they do not support chinese characters.

Finally installed my W520C yesterday with reverse camera.
Superb set, only thing is that I need to get used to the full chinese menu.

Oh well, win some, lose some ;)
