The opening round of the Goodyear International Drift Series saw a lot of action in an extremely hot sunny afternoon in Putrajaya. The series is currently the only official professional and amateur drift series in Malaysia that is an affiliate of Formula Drift – the renowned North American professional drifting championship series.

Taking top prize at the competition was Goodyear's Daniel Woolhouse or better known as Fanga Dan, the New Zealander held his game when taking on Ivan Lau who put up a fierce battle in his Toyota AE86. Ser Meng Hui or better known locally as Ah Fai was suddenly back to his old self as he 'driftfully' took out the competition but only failed to see off Fanga Dan. Ah Fai took third.

Local hero Tengku Djan was his usual self as he made very little of the competition, easily ticking them off but his consecutive run of wins in regional events came to a cluttering halt as mechanical failure meant he had to retire from the competition. Djan was drifting his new street spec Silvia S15 and not his usual competition spec 15.

Drivers who will make top 15 during the three legs of the Goodyear International Drift Series will pick up crucial points as well as the much desired Formula Drift Asia Pro License which would allow them to compete in next year’s Formula Drift Asia Series.
