Over on this part of the world the name Yves Faber might not ring many bells but halfway across the globe, the drifter from Luxembourg has made quite a name for himself with his sideways antics in his fox-bodied Ford Mustang.

Powered by a 6.1-liter Ford Racing V8 mill that has been further worked on Redline, the car benefits from over 450hp and 700Nm of torque to the rear wheels, more than sufficient to propel the 1.3-ton body sideways with little effort.

The engine and rear wheels are mated by a Tremec five speed transmission while the excellent handling characteristics, as can be seen in the video, are courtesy of the KW V2 race coilovers.

Lastly, all that smoke comes from the rubbers wrapped on those 17-inch Ford Racing wheels that look very mundane but are definitely period correct for a fox-body Mustang.

Enjoy the video of Faber kicking it sideways at the Eschdorf hill climb 2011. It might not be the fastest way up the hill, but we’re damn sure it’s the most silly smile-inducing.
