WIRA DANI PUTS HOPES ON RADICAL FOR MALAYSIAN SUPER SERIES

Malaysia’s top racing driver, Wira Dani Daim will be making his long-awaited debut in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS); entering his superfast Radical SR3 race machine for the opening round of the Supercar Championship this weekend.

A businessman by profession and a regular in Sepang’s 12-hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER) and the Proton National Championship, Wira said the car would have the speed to match any of its competitors in the battle of the supercars on Sunday.

“I am never worried about the speed of this car. But, our concern would be on the reliability of the car. If it can last the race, I would safely say that we have a good chance of winning it,” said Wira.

Together with colleagues from the Fugazi Racing Team – Faizal Hakimi Jaafar and Faisal Zelmen, Wira spent a full day at the track yesterday to prepare the European-spec racecar for the event this weekend.

The team bought the car last year for the MMER; but it broke down with gearbox problems during practice; forcing them to use an untested Porsche GT3 machine for race and predictably, with limited success.

Wira also said that it everything goes well, the team would be using the Radical machine for this year’s MMER, which would be held at the circuit from 24th to 26th August.

Faizal Hakimi, who was second overall in the JPM Integra Cup last year, had set a personal target of winning the title for 2007 in the battle of two-liter Integra machines; naming defending champion Sharjihan Ghouse as his biggest rival.

“Kimi’s (Faizal Hakimi) focus would be solely on the Integra Cup this year, which he aims to win,” said Wira, adding that Faisal – their third driver in the endurance race last year – would be supporting them in preparing the racecars.

Introduced in 2002, the seventh edition of the MSS opens tomorrow in a new format of cars and bikes to be staged at different weekends due to the overwhelming response from the participants and a crowded schedule.

For the opening round of the car championships, the competitors, which also included the 1000cc Supercompact, Supersaloon and the Hong Kong Classic Car Series, would competing for their grids in qualifying tomorrow (Saturday, 21 April). On Sunday, the participants would compete in two compulsory races in deciding the winners for the rounds.

In conjunction with the opening round, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) would be organizing a display of modified supercompact cars on Sunday at the Main Grandstand where more than 50 cars are expected to be on display.

While entry is free on Saturday, spectators will be charged RM10 for Race Day for entry at the Main Grandstand.

This is Day 9 of 9 days of non-stop detailing. The Finale. We have here a Bently Continental GT. A monstrous car with a monstrous W12 Twin Turbo engine. The Car is almost "new" as it just came back from a paint job. With not much damages and a very glossy finish.
