<a href="http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/features/175871-team-g-1-jpm-racing-for-charity-launch.html"><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/banner.jpg" width="250" height="75"></a><p>Kuala Lumpur, 18 August 2007 - Team G-1 JPM today gathered in an upbeat ceremony in Kuala Lumpur to again announce their participation and to unveil the Teams’ mean machines that will be entered in the Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) Race 2007 to be held on 25th August 2007 at the Sepang International Circuit.</p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(55).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and the Chairman of Motorsports Commission of Malaysia, Dato’ Azman Yahya.</p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(61).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>In the ceremony, the team’s founder, JP Chin provided a briefing update of the Team’s progress from previous years and their prospects in this year’s race. While the nation is celebrating our 50 Years of Nationhood, Team G-1 JPM is also celebrating their five consecutive years of MME podium finishes. Out of those years, the Team emerged at the top of the podium when they won the Overall MME Championship in the year 2003. Asked about his team’s formula for continued success, Mr Chin said, “We never entered the MME with the fastest car on the track. In fact, I attributed our excellent performance to an efficient combination of safe and effective driving, excellent pitstops, great organisation and great racing strategy. We always carry a total package, and we believe that factor is necessary in order to achieve sustainable success. A superfast car may win you a race but may not provide you with the continued success, year after year”.</p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(16).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>On this year’s racing plan, Team G-1 JPM will be retaining their drivers’ lineup for the fourth year in a row, in which the team claims to be the longest partnership trios in the history of the MME. The lineup consists of the MME2003 Champions trio of Firhat Mokhzani, Eric Yeo and TJ Chin, and the MME2004 Overall Runners-Up trio of JP Chin, TP Chin and Jeffrey Wong. Last year in MME2006, the Firhat-Eric-TJ trio finished second overall in the Championship, while the JP-Jeffrey-TP trio won third place in the Class A competition.</p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(44).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>The Team also unveiled their two race cars for the MME2007. The first car, Car Number 17, is a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 SPECIAL II NURBURGRING, one of only 1000 made. This is similar but not the same car as the one used by the team in last year’s MME. Last year, the Team used a similar car which was specially prepared and supported for Team G-1 JPM’s MME2006 challenge by one of the most successful race car builder in Japan, SHIFT RaceCar Engineering. This year, the Team built their own Skyline based on the experience they picked up from the Japanese last year through a technology transfer deal.<br>The second car, car No. 19 will be entering the Class ‘A’ category using a Porsche GT3 RS. This car is also fully prepared by JPM’s local crew. </p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(25).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>The event also witnessed the customary launch of the G-1 JPM “Racing for Charity” campaign, which was kicked off by YB Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, the Minister of Women, Social and Community Development. In her speech, the Honourable Minister said she was personally impressed with Team G-1 JPM which has not only excelled in the MME competition, but has also made tremendous contributions towards charitable causes. The team, in its fifth year of racing for charity, has raised a total of more than RM350,000 for various charity organisations over the years. Some past recipients include organizations such as the UTAR Fund, National AIDS Foundation, Majlis Kanser Nasional, Majlis Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Malaysia and Women’s Aid Organisation. For MME2007, all proceeds from the fund raising activities will be channelled to the Ministry for her onwards distribution to needy organisations.</p><p><img border="0" src="http://www.zerotohundred.com/features/august/g1_jpm_mme_2007/small/g1_jpm_mme%20(5).JPG" width="500" height="333"></p><p>The fund was kick-started with the announcement of RM13,000 already collected by Team G-1 JPM during the recent Japan SuperGT event. During the SuperGT event, the Team with the support of the Sepang International Circuit brought more than 200 orphans from four orphanages who were treated to a Kids Pit Walkabout.<br><br>The Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) Race 2007 will be held this year on 25th August from 11:00am to 11:00pm.
