Shell Helix recently announced its four Grand Prize Winners of the “Shell Helix Ferrari Adventure Challenge” held at Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru. The four Grand Prize Winners were rewarded with an all-expense paid trip to Maranello, Italy, the home of Ferrari from 18 to 19 November 2010.

The well-deserving Malaysian Grand Prize Winners are Haslizan bin Mohamed Sarbini, 37, Ashraf Akashah, 31, Mohd Azlin Idris, 33 and Basir Samsudin, 40.

The Grand Prize Winners competed against 8 other finalists in four challenges. The first challenge, Giant Ball Maranello Track entailed the winners getting into a giant ball, rolling their way on the modified replica of the Maranello track in Italy, completing the circuit in the fastest time possible. The Active Cleansing was the second challenge to demonstrate an understanding of Active Cleansing of the piston wall in the car cylinder. Winners were tied to an elastic band with 12 dirt particles placed on either side of the inflatable walls. The inflatable walls act as the piston wall in the car cylinder. The winners ran back and forth to collect as many particles as they can in the fastest time.

The challenges got more and more exciting as the winners competed to win for the Grand Prize. In the third challenge, Run the Engine required the winners to jump into a pool of balls to find the Shell Helix Ultra bottle and run to stick the bottle as high as possible in the fastest time on the Shell Helix Ultra inflatable sticky wall.

Last but not least, the final challenge to determine the four Grand Prize Winners was Rev the Engine Quiz. Here, the winners were required to replicate the sounds of a Ferrari car engine (braking, revving and breaking down sounds). They were then quizzed on their knowledge of Shell Helix Ultra, partnership with Ferrari and Motorsports. Each question carries different points. The highest points win the final challenge.

The Grand Prize to Maranello, Italy is a money-can’t-buy experience. In Maranello Italy, winners will learn how to drive a Ferrari 458 Italia, meet one of Ferrari’s Formula One drivers, visit Shell’s unique mobile race-track laboratory, go on a VIP tour of the top-secret Ferrari factory, drive Shell’s Formula One race trainer and explore the Ferrari museum.

The Street Carnival was also open to members of the public to participate in fun-filled games and activities to win attractive prizes. Activities scheduled for participation by members of the public included the Engine Cleansing Inflatable Games, Shell Helix Family Fun Booths, F1 Ferrari Pit Stop Experience, Shell Helix Hyper Dance Performance and special appearance from Hitz Radio DJs JJ & Ean. There were also 300 packs of Shell Helix Ultra 4L worth RM209 each to be won.

In light of this successful technical partnership and to add to the evening’s festivities, the Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore was also broadcasted live on Jalan Telawi 3 from 7:30pm onwards.

Below is a video coverage of the entire event with highlights that include the track, the activities, and of course, the winners and their priceless expressions.

A rather dismal images of what seems to be the shop floor of a spark plug manufacturing operation in China.

To be clear, there is very little in the way of information to color what we’re seeing in these images, but the overall picture is one of rather scary working conditions. Cramped workbenches, metal shavings in every corner of the room, as well as what looks like up close and personal handling...
