Just got a set of vintage wheels...however I need to find a set of locking security lugs for 'em.

Any advise on where and which are recommended?

Read about Mcgard lugs, but all the ads says they are authorized dealers but Mcgard's site doesn't list local dealers. So I'm not sure if they are original.

Sifu's inputs much appreciated :adore:

..also long time no post

Get McGard from me. I am not an authorized dealer, I'm a parallel importer.

I use it on my own ride, McGard is the best locking nut you can get simply because each set is unique. My McGard key cannot open your McGard lock, and vice versa.

How long are the lugs? When I used my original 02 altis lug nuts, they stick out like 4 erected dicks from my wheels

Standard length, 1.24"
Its designed for aftermarket wheels, not stock OEM wheels.

Dat price doe!... ok looks like I shall get a set of 4 locking lugs.

Any recommendation for the remaining lugs? something to replace the oem ones?

U can have full set of mcgard spline nuts. Or a set of aluminum cold forge tpi nuts as many colors available. Otherwise chromoly buddyclub nuts would be good too

But instead of security wheel lug nuts, it is better to get a car alarm with vibration and towing alert. That way, your car sounds when your wheels are being molested in additional to when your car windows is smashed or car being towed.

Car alarm is the EASIEST to defeat. Just pretend to change wheel and pretend alarm spoil.. or pretend lock keys in car.. settled.

I've seen people doing exactly that in a shopping mall, and I only found out when the owner was walking out and saw the jokers.

That Magnetic lug..unless the keys are unique, it will be defeated. I've seen tyre workshop have a set of keys of all generic locks.. so it is damn easy to get it.

One of my genius friends wanted to buy 4 sets of 4 different locks.. so on each wheel it is locked by 4 lock nuts.. Tyre shop feedback say..if you do that the thief dulan will just smash your car.

Basic just 4 locks, RM250. Worthwhile la, considering it lasts a lifetime and you can use it later when change car.

These days.. stock rims also people steal. Haih.

Think this way la, you insure windscreen have to pay every year, you insure your wheels just pay once.

All security systems can be defeated, including car alarms and security wheel lugs. Just as we can put an example of "Just pretend to change wheel and pretend alarm spoil.. or pretend lock keys in car.. settled.", someone else can give another example: "Aiya, why got this fancy security wheel lugs, wan? If like that, I steal the whole car, loh. Settled."

:driver:

Uh.. talking about wheel protection now. Putting alarm, the guy just pretend change tyre, alarm spoil, he ran off with your rims already.

McGard..good luck opening the bloody nut. The fastest it took was 3 hours with a blow torch by a tire shop. I doubt people going to steal your wheels carrying a blow torch around.

As for stealing the whole car, that's a whole other problem altogether. Here's a tip, do side parking. Makes it harder to tow your car away since they have to tow the car in front or behind you.
