When i engage to reverse gear during cold time the car jerks very strong wif a loud "KONG"......oni reverse gear...somemore engage quite slow also...

after it warms up it'll be smooth again....

gearbox or auto ecu is in trouble?
both of them has been replaced....

hai bro... sori to hear that. i wish there's nothing wrong wif ur gb but i believe it may hv to do wif the gb itself. ECUs are design to last for longgggggg..time.

if in ur knowledge the gb had been with ur galant since new, it may well be over 15 years old now. no matter how well maintained though it may still suffer from metal fatigue syndrom. try using high quality ATF.

and this is why people buy new cars...no matter how bad they depreciate... :)

nope....tis is the num 3 or 4th gearbox....

The original 1 onli last 10 years...after that using chop shop gearboxes wic canot last long...

i duno whether i should replace another gearbox, replace another ecu or change the ATF...

ATF i alr wasted bout 4 bottles alr for the previous gearbox coz tot ATF dirty alr... mana tau is really gearbox spoil....

my suggestion is to borrow a gb for trial and error. as u had described the problem persist before ATF reaching operating temperature, i strongly believe this is due to gb internals. it may be only the torque converter though. my fren's perdana had this problem gear refused to engage once u selected D but problem solved after he rebuild it.

2 suggestions..
1. swap auto for manual transmission.
2. or, in case u insists on auto cars..dispose this galant and get a newer car.

i hv other suggestions but they dont make sense! ha ha :))

i am not 'sifu' so i cant help further. but i think u shud consider rebuild the transmission.

wat i think is...if its the gb prob....dun get those from half cut shop anymore....get those recond gear box...at least its recond n should work like o near 2 a new 1...
