its getting harder for Ferrari, but McLaren still not out of reach. same goes to Kimi and Felipe but Lewis had better watch out for Fernando!

Ferrari has a fast car, they just have to work on the reliability, it sucks to see them retire from a good position

pity Massa, but Ron Dennis definitely not happy with his team's qualifying strategy. poor Hamilton was hold up by Alonso for nothing...what a strategy!

Alonso really use all way to fight for WDC?!

Alonso stunt to be investigated

Stewards of the Hungarian Grand Prix are to investigate Fernando Alonso's holding up of McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the pits during qualifying for tomorrow's race. The FIA summoned Ron Dennis after qualifying to call into question the affair and will now examine the team's radio communication.

At the end of Q3, the McLaren pair entered the pits before one final run - Alonso ahead of Hamilton. Alonso seemed free to go but waited, holding Hamilton up. The Spaniard eventually set off but Hamilton had lost too much time and was unable to beat the chequered flag for one last flying lap to defend his provisional pole. Meanwhile, Alonso beat Hamilton's fastest lap to take pole.In a heated press conference after the race, Alonso blamed the team whilst Hamilton appeared fuming under his cool exterior saying: "Not much to say there. You saw what happened."

Last season, a similar incident happened at qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix where Michael Schumacher parked his car at Rascasse, blocking anyone from going faster. Ironically it was a fuming Alonso who was held up then. Schumacher was consequently penalised by the FIA and sent to the back of the grid.
New question, shall Alonso be punish for such act?

Alonso n McLaren PENALISED!

HAMILTON's taking the pole...Alonso's gonna start from sixth as a result of five grid loss n the team also not eligible for constructors point for this race...They will however race under appeal except for Alonso's case..Poor lad..

alonso has shown more desire, even if it mean ungentlemanly/unsportmanlike/or in extreame view 'cheat' conduct.

commentator mentioned alonso is like alain prost (that french master strategist), but i will add 'cheat' that french driver too.

Looks like Alonso learned something from Schumacher last year.
Anyway, congratulations to Lewis.
An incredible bounce back by him after scoring no point in Nurburgring.
He deserved the winner's trophy.

That's because this track has lots of corners and it's narrow making overtaking tougher.
But last year's Hungarian GP was interesting seeing MS overtaking Heidfeld at one of the those impossible to overtake tight corners.
He paid for it by damaging his car.

actually, alonso's engineer was to be blame for such incident. he allowed alonso's request for a clear track.

alonso can juz cruise along the pitlane slowly.

Maybe Bernie should take a look at Clarkson's suggestion. To pay the drivers a minimal wage and then reward them with bonuses such as when they overtake, win, set fastest laps. That'll put the notion that overtaking is hard to the test.

That's just assuming that F1 drivers drive purely for money, which I personally doubt.

There's a lot of blame being thrown about after Hungary but if you want a pretty balanced view of the whole thing, the commentators from GrandPrix.com can usually be relied on to give an objective view of the situation. They wrote a sensibly impartial and analytical article below about Hungary which I suggest you read.....and then make up your mind

F1 - Grandprix.com > Features > Globetrotter > This whole business

McLaren has also stated that they a policy whereby each driver alternate on who will get the preferred strategy on each race. Hamilton got his at Nurburgring and at Hungary it was Alonso's turn. It happened in the first lap or two of Q3. Since burning fuel is all-important to a fast Q3 time, it is important to run as hard as possible for as long as possible. This means getting to the front of pit-out as soon as the car is capable of doing so, which means sitting there while the light is red, with the engine on, for up to 4 minutes. McLaren has stated that they send each car to pit-out before Q3 as soon as the car reaches a certain temperature. In this case Hamilton's car reached the temperature first.

McLaren has also stated that they have a strategy whereby they alternate which driver gets to be in front during Q3 (not who gets pole, just who is first on the track). The assumption is that this is irrespective of who manages to get their car to the front of pit-out first, since being at the front of pit-out is a competition between teams, and whether Hamilton or Alonso is the front McLaren during Q3 is a competition within McLaren.

There is a significant chance that the driver in front will get an extra lap of fuel credit in Q3, since it is possible he crosses the finish line slightly before the checkered flag while the driver in back crosses after the checkered. Since the 110% rule was abolished this year, and thus drivers can receive fuel credit for a qual lap completed in any time, this lets the driver in front run an additional slow lap that is credited and thus receive almost an entire lap's worth of fuel for the race that was not actually weight on the car in qual.

Alternating preferred strategies between drivers on alternate races probably meant that Alonso had never really been comfortable with this because it meant he did not have complete freedom to choose the optimum strategy for every race, but by and large he honored the understanding as part of the Team. You should therefore take this into account as it was Hamilton who openly admitted that he disobeyed this understanding and went against repeated team orders telling him to let Alonso pass during qualifying. It's likely that Alonso retaliated and the result was that he and McLaren got penalized.

Make up your own mind. Personally I don't believe Hamilton is the squeaky clean character that people think he is.
