Yes you read it right, BMW will be parenting up with Two Wheel Garage (TWG) Racing Team to provide a unit of their BMW S1000RR as well as full racing accessories for the team rider in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) and no, they didn’t get the wheel count wrong.

The premium carmaker is keen to strengthen its presence in the superbike segment and following much consideration, they have finally chosen their partner and the event to contest in.

“Motorsports is the best platform for us to showcase the capabilities of our BMW Motorrad division and there is no better competition at the grassroots level here in Malaysia other than the MSS, which is the leading wildcard competition for the Moto GP,” said Geoffrey Briscoe, Managing Director of BMW Malaysia.

TWG will be receiving a unit of the S1000RR Troy Corser replica for their rider, Remon Azrem Abdul Karim, as well as complete Motorrad race accessories and riding gear.

Remon possesses four years of motorcycle racing under his belt that have included being the champion for the Open Superbike Novice class in the MSS for 2007. His most recent achievement was finishing as the runner-up in the Open Class for the Supermoto GrandPrix last year.

TWG has also diversified since 2010 by participating in overland and endurance riding as well. The team has garnered two podium spots in the Super stock class in their last showing.

The S1000RR is amongst the most powerful liter bikes in the world with 193hp at 13,000rpm and 112Nm of torque from its straight-four mill. Part of the engine package also includes titanium valves and rocker arms which play a significant part in allowing it to rev to 14,200rpm.

Thus far, over 65 units of the S1000RR has already been delivered to customers in the country, making it the best seller in the Motorrad stable.

The BMW TWG Racing Team will be making their debut at the MSS this weekend.
