A member of the Swedish forum “M5board” who goes by the alias “Balazs” posted a set of images from a serious car crash he had in his M5 Touring this past July. According to Balazs, the accident occurred on the autobahn when he was travelling at about 180 km/h or 112 mph. After hearing a loud bang from the right side, the car went out of control spinning sideways at 140 km/h or 87 mph. It hit the roadside barrier several times before flipping over two times and coming to a halt.

Luckily, neither Balazs, his wife or his 7-month-old daughter that were on board that day got hurt (not even a scratch!). Police and tyre experts later confirmed the accident was caused by a puncture to the rear right tyre. A tiny little hole, that let the air out slowly, then the inside of the rim cut through the tyre, that's when all the pressure was lost suddenly. TPM (Tyre Pressure Management) did not give any warning whatsoever though and the car did not behave in any strange ways beforehand!! Experts said these kind of puncture accidents have a 70% death rate of at least 1 person...

Balazs did some short consideration with his wife, and decided to get the same car - different color.

this is just jaw dropping. speeding at 180kmh and flipped and sideways.. he is very lucky to walk out unscratched.

on the other hand, that's seems to be a good 5l V10 front cut.

for that kind of class and considering the high price tag of the car, the safety equipment BETTER work.

airbags and WEARING the seatbelt saved their lives.

a bit offtopic, but many of us dont bother to wear the seatbelt (heck, the polis dont even wear em at all)

ur driving a tin can unrestrained. how can u survive a crash? ive been in a highspeed accident, and the seatbelt helped a lot.

having airbags helps, but the primary safety device is the seatbelt.

Hi guys, am getting my next project car... It's a Civic EG (local) still
in its ori condition. Already has a B16A auto just transplanted in there
for the enjoyable DOHC VTEC experience.

Now shopping for a pair of good sports seats (Recaro, SSCUS, Sparco...
donno yet, all I know is it must be red colour :) and probably to re-
uphols the whole rear seats. Momo steering is a must item too :)

Any ideas on how to go next? Prob a K&N mushroom air filter to help the
engine breathe...
