Good day all scoobie veteran:wavey:,

I'm currently looking at this Yr 2002 late model of ver 7 sti Impreza which comes with a 6 speed gear box and I was wondering if any of you guys have experience on this specific model?
Subaru Impreza STI - Version 7 - Cars for sale Johore - Mudah.my

It had clocked around 79k-80k on the mileage so what are the main issues to look out for before buying? I've personally went to see the car and noticed the interior is in good condition with no cigarette burns on the seat, clean and well maintained like how a car with that mileage supposed to be.

I don't know much about the subaru's boxers but the engine bay doesn't look clean to me but I guess it's okay? As I haven't test driven the car so I'm not sure, might probably going for a test drive during weekend though.

Comments and advises will be much appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Mileage can be tune bro, normally when buying 2nd hand car, just take the mileage X2 then should be the estimated mileage on the car.

For Subaru engine, STI will have a 6-speed gearbox and WRX will be just 5-speed gearbox, another few things that need to be check by mechanic will be the gearbox and the under carriage of the car.

agreed. doubt the mileage is that low. probably you want to find out where the car was serviced and talk to the mechanic to find out what has been changed. e.g. power steering pump is the usual nuisance.

Wow, I guess it's a bit of risky in buying a used sports car in our country eh? Given our high car prices, people do hope they are paying for the right thing though.

well sports car always a risk there, therefore just bring along your well known foremen with you and check the car for you is the best solutions.

best of all send the car to a subaru specialist workshop to do checking

The best thing to do is obtain the vehicle services record, n inspect it at subaru pro shop, if everything fine then u got a good car just ignore the mileage as 90% imported used car is adjusted. U can check if the owner a SCM member here...mysubaruclub.com • Index page
