One of the golden rules of automotive photography states that almost any car looks way more awesome in the air. Fortunately, the Hyundai Veloster doesn’t fall short of that ledge. On paper, it’s impressive enough with its six-speed transmission and direct-injection lump but in the air, wearing full rally livery, it’s 12 different kinds of awesome.
Slathered in Red Bull Racing colours, the rally-prepped Veloster pictured mid-air here looks to be a sure bet as Rhys Millen’s ride for the 2011 season of RallyCar’s Rally-Cross series.
Up to now, details are limited to what you see in the shot but Hyundai will be releasing more details on 9 February. Furthermore, word has it that this rally-prepped Veloster will be landing at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show.
Hyundai must be lauded for jumping into the motorsports arena, even though they have had quite some help from the Millen family. Perhaps this could lead to an S2000 spec Veloster or a fully World Rally Championship effort from the manufacturer. The Veloster is a prime candidate for an S2000 works conversion with its 1.6-liter lump and the motorsports know-how of the Millens.
