12th June 2011 – Team Kegani Racing Qualified pole with their best lap time of 2”37’ as clocked by Kenny Lee, booking 4th on the grid just behind 3 higher capacity classed cars namely the 1.8llitres and 2litres. By the end of their 1st qualifying session, it was discovered that the exhaust system had suffered a hazardous leak. In rush for a spare that was next to impossible, the crew made a quick temporary fix to seal the 50cent coin breach. While still concerned with toxic exhaust fumes making way into the cockpit, Kenny made his way to the start and proceed to give the strong competition all he's got and managed to keep up with the two 1.8litre front runners.

Kenny pitted in at lap 25 and handed over the car to 2nd driver, Julian Ng with a lead of 1min 28seconds. Julian lapped consistently with about 4seconds quicker than the competition increasing the gap to a 2laps difference. "Quick pitstops has given us the advantage at each pitstop", says Kenny. Kenny then continued his 2nd stint with a huge 4lap margin.

However, in lap 60, Kenny felt something terribly wrong under braking and pitted in at lap 75 for a quick check and found the brake pads were close to exhaustion. The crew took a total of 4minutes for to make the change and a routine driver change for the last time before the chequered flag.

The gap of 4 laps dropped to 1 lap and was further reduced under a safety car condition in lap 73. However, the 2nd runner has yet to make a last stop and they finished the race victoriously, with 1lap ahead of the 2nd car.Team Kegani Racing managed a strong 1st and 3rd finish in class.

Kegani Racing would like to thank all supporting sponsors, in no order, to ULTRA RACING, AMSOIL Lubricants, FEDERAL Motorsport Tyres, REVO Friction Reducer, FORGED RACING radiators, WORKS Engineering, ADAPTRONICS Engine Management, 14point7 wideband and TM WORKS empowering their team with exceptional products and support to win the race.

I agree with Tom. Just to finish the endurance race is already tough enough. Posting 2min37secs on a 1.6L sedan is really fast! Kegani did not just win overnight. It is hard work before they could stand on that podium. Congratulations to Kenny of Kegani and their hard work & experience paid off.
