Yes we know it’s bordering on the ludicrous, just like how the Twilight saga managed to be a box office hit, but we’ve been made privy to some new info on the SSC Ultimate Aero II that will see it aim for a Neyron SuperSport-besting top speed of 443km/h.
Our earlier article covers some of the aero and design bits but this update clears the air on the nuclear power plant residing behind the driver. It’s going to be a 6.8-liter twin turbo V8 with a 9:1 compression ratio that’s aiming for the 1,350hp mark to achieve that insane top speed.
Shelby Supercars are targeting an anorexic weight of under 1.2tons to ensure a century sprint of approximately 2.8seconds. Just take a moment to process those numbers. That’s am extremely light car with enough power to rotate Earth in reverse, we sure hope the Aero part of its name is literal in providing sufficient down force to keep the thing from going into orbit.
Nonetheless, the car is still in the development stage so please do add a pinch of salt before taking a bite of this pie.
