Here is the reading from my svt 20v in my corolla SE

IN NORMAL DRIVE
RPM 2K - 60kmh
RPM 2.5k - 80kmh

When drive in the highway, RPM 4k Only 120kmh.

during 4k or higher the sound of engine very loud, won't it eat more of fuel?
Izzit kind of normal? any solution?

In 97 seg 4afe(auto), almost i think RPM 3k at 120kmh already sometime go to 140.

Pls help!

yes, its normal. the twincam 20V was given a C52 gearbox. the gears are 'short'... they are good for racing and pickup. its only a problem if u sayang petrol and go outstation far2..

There is nothing wrong with the engine neither will it damage anything. Thats the compromise. Stock 4AGE 20V is poised to "race". U can always change the gbox to your 4AFE gbox, u will get better fuel economy over long distances, rev lower on cruise, but u wont catch up to ur racing friends very quickly when u guys go crazy. naik genting, tak best lor..

hey khairul.. got info on 4af gearbox ratio and stuff? my friend interested to know more but i dunno much about FF corolla :(

sorry, i dunno the ratios... i just know that

2nd@7500 = 120km/h
3rd@7500 = 170km/h

5th@3000 = ~110km/h (so relaxed)

0-100km/h = ~8.5sec (SVT)
400m = 17.2sec @ 147km/h (SVT)

1st shift to 2nd full rev = Guaranteed wheelspin (good trick to fool ppl into thinking we have supercharger)

its SUPPOSED to be a C52 as well, tho nobody i know seems to have found any markings or codings on any 4A gearboxes. I have no known way of differentiating between 4AG's C52 and 4AF's 1.6 gbox until i try them in the car. sorry.

one other thing, the 4AF's 1.6 gearbox is built to help/accomodate torque in the low end of the revs (which is how the F head is designed)

this gearbox in my guess would make a perfect overall match with a 7AGE where low end-midrange torque is aplenty. a 7AGE with the short 20V C52 would still be faster of course, its just that i personally dont see the point of wasting petrol on normal driving and running out of revs so fast unless u really want to win a drag race.

emm i tot a c52 gearbox IS c52 gearbox...it doesnt care from what engine?

i might be wrong

thanks... that should help. after i get thru the clutter..

it still suggest that many gboxes are used for different engines, some engines share the same gearboxes... and there are many types of gearboxes. as i have said.. i THINK its also called the C52.. bcoz MK once said there is a possibility of toyota gearbox having different ratio but the same code designation..

again. im not sure. :)

How much is the 4AF gearbox ?? auto and manual

izzit should be Ae101 ngam or Ae111 also ngam?

Where to find? Or buy from any guys already transparent engine?

all A series gearbox plug and play only

4A block all the same mah. just ask from chop shop SEG normal 4 door gbox or 4AF gbox. i bought mine for RM350.00 buy from transplanted guys OSO can..

AE80TypeD,

So means urs is BLK top 20v with 4AF gbox? izzit?

I know the stock AE111 auto gbox smooth and save fuel.
so , can i use tat?

Just to clears thing a bit here:

C52 (Common in Older Silvertop) and C50 (Common in 4A-FE Manual) are almost identical in Gear Ratios with an exception that C50 have even shorter ratio for 1st gear only. 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th is exactly the same.

I can confirm that some newer 4A-FE Corollas also run C52.

gto_yap:
If your current system is running manual, you kenot simply plug in an Auto Gearbox because 4A-GE 20V ECU are specific to what sort of transmission they use. Auto 4A-GE ECU can use both Auto and Manual gearbox but Manual 4A-GE ECU can only be mated with Manual Gearbox.

EFN,
Mine is 94 svt, so izzit same with 4AF gbox?
what i found here was wheni run on the highway, the RPM very high, so izzit 4Af did the same thing?

1994 Silvertop 4A-GE is equipped with C56, the ratios for 3rd and 4th is a lot shorter compared to 1991-1993 Silvertops.

If you dun want the fuel consuming GB, I can find u a C50 or C52 which is a lot better for High Gear cruising.

How abot gze gear box..wat type off gear box gze using..can gze gear box put at 20v?

just fresh here, if u get the 4agze gearbox into the 20v, it will getting heavy for 20v to pull with.... better get ori 20v gear box from svt or BT lar.... just scold me if i'm fool around here  ;) if u wana save some fuel, put 4af gearbox is much better, but the torque power will be different.

4AFE C52 gear ratio different than 4AGE C52 ratio

with the chart fai attached.. basically c52 from 4age and 4afe is that the ratio for the first gear and the final drive ratio is different lar?

seems like higher cruising speed at lower rev all thanks to the final drive ratio..

there you go.. i oso just found out its just the final drive and 1 gear different  no wonder blipping the throttle downshift for 4AFE gearbox is such a bitch... damn..

thanks GT20V and fai.
