Being born as a sports coupe, especially as the spiritual successor of the legendary Hachiroku, it will only be a matter of time before the manufacturer themselves or third-party tuning companies to come up with an upgrade kit to make it look/run better. Like not long after the 86 was born, Toyota introduced the TRD version, featuring some upgrades for the 86’s looks and handling.

<a href="https://www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/86aerokit_2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-32715" title="86aerokit_2" src="https://www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/86aerokit_2-600x332.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="332" /></a>

And now, Toyota has announced a new aero kit for the much-anticipated sports coupe, and it really did add up some fangs for this nimble pup. Offered as a factory option, this new kit includes a new front bumper, side sills, a rear bumper skirt and a ridiculously large rear spoiler. When fully kitted on an 86 (especially with that huge spoiler), it really looks as if it is rally-ready!

<a href="https://www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/86aerokit_3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-32716" title="86aerokit_3" src="https://www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/86aerokit_3-600x352.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="352" /></a>

This new aggressive kit was not only designed to look good, but it was also tested thoroughly on both the wind tunnel and the tracks to ensure that the kit is not just for show. With the testing, the kit had properly reduced drag and increased the downforce, while maintaining the car’s slick 0.27 drag coefficient besides of showing improvements on the handling stability by properly channeling the airflow throughout the body.

This is already a good sign from Toyota in showing that they have a lot in store for the 86 in the R&amp;D sector, and the 86 is truly a versatile platform that is always open for tweaks and upgrades in making it to perform better.

everything is nice.. but that spoiler just got to go. its way overdone

not nice. i'll take the vanilla 86 anytime..

the spoiler though, soon will be on BLM, Waja, City, Vios, etc.. just like the Mugen and Type-R spoilers. every ricer just want to have one.

1st, the spoiler is a FBETF version of the TRD spoiler made for Celica. (Fat Boy Eat Too Full)

With the top speed it can reach, there is nothing the mighty spoiler cannot do, especially increasing fuel consumption and chewing up tires faster. If it needs the spoiler in order to go more stable at that little top speed, then a 1997 BMW 728i which worth +-RM50k definitely can be consider bang of bucks. If don't buy the car, what's the point to buy the spoiler. If the function of the spoiler is not convincing, then the design is consider failed. So the conclusion is : Only Ah Beng will buy :rofl::rofl:

It reminds me of the spoiler of the last Toyota Celica GT Four ST215 and the Supra's spoiler.

But in terms of looks i reckon the GT Wing style is more astethically pleasant to the eyes than this old school style of spoiler.

However i find the TRD door hinges as the most interesting mod.

If only they can reduce the height of the spoiler, then it will be great.

Now with fangs, it looks like more like a Cobra...Cobra 86

i rather them use a smaller spoiler like this one like what i use on my ex car...

i think why spoilers are important is so that have more downforce at the back. since this is a rear wheel drive car so i would say its not wrong for spoilers. but yeah oversize really destroyed the looks.

Even some proton cars need such a HUGE GT Wing what...I guess for a sports car, it needs a bigger one...
Since need to have more downforce than our local cars...
