if output is 12V, something is wrong somewhere, either the battery or alternator.

even at high ELD, it should be around 13.

if you're getting 12V, try changing/borrow a working battery to test.

if 12V, usually means the alternator is not supplying the correct voltage.

Alternator supplies around 14V+ with zero load with load, it's about 13 with full load, and unless the battery or alternator has problems, it should hold true.

Or maybe you're running power hungry headlamp/hid unit/etc, I dunno lah.

it could be that you're not running the correct battery size?
check on the owners manual.

if you test from the cigarette lighter plug, it will be very inaccurate..

try direct from the battery, if the alternator is supplying enough, I already explained the voltage.

if at ECU, sometimes it is lower, due to degraded ECU/engine wiring grounding and such.

but as long as your devices get more than 12V (ie. solenoid) and your sensors are getting near 5V (usually its about 4.5-4.8V), shouldn't be a problem, isn't it?

but if your headlights are dimming, when you turn on ac and such, it's usually the alternator not supplying enough power due to worn carbon or etc. Could be a power hungry device too like an amp or something, that's pretty much it.
