someone sold his GK for 76K last time, black.

My brother-in-law found one GK at second hand car dealer shop two months ago at Bagan Ajam, Butterworth, Penang. The dealer told him it's a 2001/2002 GK. RM 78k negotiatable.

Dear fren, i'm pretty new here as i'm currently looking for a car as well. i've consider a lot of cars but i still can't get myself out of the coupe but i have a few question which i'm not able to solve. Hope you guys can help me out.

1. car type (difference between RD1 & RD 2)
2. oil consumption (wats the oil consumption like)
3. maintenance (any major problem)
4. spare part (does the spare part hard to find)

As for maintenance, i have not much of concern as my normal servicing are costing me bout rm150 every 5000km.

I'm driving RD1 currently. Here are my answers to your questions.

(1) From what I know, the difference btw RD1 and RD2 is the design.
(Any members in HCC can clarify more? :regular_smile:)
(2) My RD1's oil consumption is RM0.185 per km (normal driving style without flooring the accelerator).
(3) Two of the major problems I faced after owning my RD1 for 2 years plus are aircond compressor and drive shaft. Other than that are all tiny little bits problems. :_:
(4) Spare parts are easily available. Don't worry!

Thanks man, :shades_smile: your reply really lighten up my burden as i do not need to think so much. i found a few of it already and i think i will be going for the black RD1:guy_handsacrossamer . by the way, how much does it cost you to fix the air compressor and the drive shaft:_: ?

of all the components in the aircond system, the compressor is the most expensive item to replace if you wanna go for the genuine one.
I'd replaced mine with the genuine compressor for RM1.5k.
The recond one is much cheaper round RM400-600.
There are used one too also at RM300-400.
I can't find any recond or used one at that time so need to settle for the genuine one.
About the drive shaft, it was roughly about RM500-600.
Do report yourself to the club when you'd bought your black RD1. :)

Check out Wikipedia for the difference between RD1 and RD2. Simply search "Hyundai Tiburon" on google and you will a whole lot of info.

My fuel consumption is almost the same with Daniel. I am driving RD2. A full tank costs me about RM 100 and it last for 500+- km.

I just got my car for a month. No major servicing but I do feel that my front right suspension is gonna give way soon! But as I said, I just own this car for a month. I am still not too sure where to get spare parts. Hyundai parts are easily available nowadays. So I am not worry..

Those components that I mentioned will give up one day due to tear and wear and also the way the owner use it.
But the lifespan for those parts are quite long.
The compressor normally last for more than 7 years and the drive shaft can take more than 3 years.
If you did not turn your aircond off and on frequently during driving and you did clean the plastic cover on the drive shaft, the two items will last longer...:_:
I'm from Batu Caves but I'm not free this Saturday.
