While many manufacturers are trying to squeeze every last drop of fuel out of their machines, one of the simplest methods to do so has always been overlooked, until now that is. Goodyear has just launched it’s the latest tyre from its Assurance line, the Assurance Fuel Max, that provides for reduced rolling resistance for fuel savings and longer mileage.

Targeted at family cars, the Assurance Fuel Max can produce up to four percent improved fuel consumption and an impressive 15 per cent more mileage compared to other tyres.

“Taking into account the climate today, Malaysians is becoming a lot savvier about their vehicles and are taking the initiative to find the best option which suits their needs and to save their wallets. Goodyear has used the combination of innovation in tire technology and safety to come up with our latest tire, the Assurance Fuel Max, which provides you with maximum fuel efficiency and maximum protection,” said Ivy Peng, Sales Director of Goodyear Malaysia.

Up to 20 per cent of a car’s fuel consumption is due to the rolling resistance of the tyres. So naturally, a reduction in rolling resistance would result in reduced fuel consumption. The Assurance Fuel Max features an advanced full silica compound designed to reduce friction between the tyre and the surface.

Furthermore, the tyre is built upon a hard base that serves to reduce deformation in the crown area under stress and heat build-up that causes higher fuel consumption. The hard base provides for even pressure distribution.

Testing on the Assurance Fuel Max last year, which was evaluated by TUV SUD Automotive, results pointed to the tyre being four per cent more fuel efficient compared to the previous generation of tyres, the Goodyear Ducaro GA. Additional testing also pointed to the Assurance Fuel Max having an estimated tread life of 85,777km, 15 per cent more than the Ducaro GA.

The tyre also features other aspects that make it a very safe choice as well. DuPont Kevlar, a material five times stronger that steel, is used to reinforce the tyre. Its design incorporates high centerline block angles and a four pitch sequence that contributes to a smooth and quiet ride.

It is also provides for shorter braking distance and better grip on wet and dry surfaces. The unique three dimensional waffle blades in the tread improve lateral interlocking power. Furthermore, the tread design provides for better absorbing and repelling of water to cut down on aquaplaning.
