MR-S soft top got rip off

very sad. my gf MR-S soft top got rip off just for an obselete laptop.

does any half cut shop in malaysia has the soft top intact with the half-cut?
and how much would that cost me?

damn first it was my MR2, then my Altezza and now my MR-S. god dammit.

photo will be available as soon as my gf find some way to transfer to the computer cause the camera cable is in the laptop bag.

and the worst part is it happen in our own parking lot in broad daylight!!! i think in between 7 to 9am cause only got back at 5 am.

very sorry to hear that. That makes ownership of convertables a little hard for some. Thats why sometimes it's worthwhile to 'invest in a hard top too.

One thing is that, never place anything 'inviting' ie bag, laptop PC, coins, smart tag for thugs to see.
Convertable or not it simply not worth getting window glass/convertable broken into.

Thats will i never put/place anything on my car. even the player is an old casette player. dont want to invite ass heads. I enjoy my ride as it is. hearing the engine zinging most of the time even mutes the music so to me investing into blaring sound system is not something i will indulge in this car.

BTW soft top replacemennt in not available in malaysia except special order. (half cut shops, not that i know of) but replacement soft top is found in SG. It pretty expesive though.

Do you think the 'cut' can be repaired? There are people who could repair 'soft top' materials at the custom local seat/leather makers.

thanks for the advise but she is one sturborn lady who refuse to believe until it happen. anyhow she learn her lesson the hard way.

yeah looking into a local recomended by an old friend. see their workmanship first and quotation before deciding to repair or place an order. till then drive with the hardtop.

damage is hard to describe. the metal bar near the rear window got bend maybe due to the weight of that freaking asshole body weight.
that asshole actually cut and ripped the canvas wide enough to slide in to grab the laptop from the top.

to me personally i think even if i got it repair it won't look nice anymore and just by thinking that it dun look perfect anymore hurts u know.

luckly the hardtop comes with the car otherwise cannot be driven.

i need to close it outside the car ~~ becos if i close it inside the soft top jus close half way ~~ strange ~~ other ppl can close inside the car ~~

your flaps (on the sides ) are showing cause the 'belt' that 'pulls' the rear 'ears' is unbolted. And this coupled with some uneven tangles.

There is a 'loose' belt that came unbutton under your soft top. That belt is suppose to pull the soft top in place when you go top down. it is actually a simple remedy. Many owners didn't realise this. This 'solution' can be found on spyderchat . do a search.

Unfortunately you are down south else you can drop by and i'll show the the 'loose' belt, then for a fee u belanja me 'makan' :)!!

thanks for the help but need far more repair kit than that.

found a person who can repair and refurbish soft top for bmw, mercedes, rolls royce convertible.

will cost me 1200 but apparently he is the best.

lets hope the top comes out well after the repair.
