While the recently announced one-off BMW M3 ute may have been intended as an April Fool’s joke by BMW, South African tuner LupiniPower is having the last laugh with their supercharged V8 SuperUte that outpowers BMW’s chopped M3.

Based on the Chevrolet SuperUte SS, LuminiPower’s version has been upgraded in all manners to push out more power than the M3. It packs a 6-liter supercharged V8 that pushes out 535hp and 800Nm of torque. All that power makes it a sub-5 second capable machine in the century sprint department, while the dash to 160km/h from a standstill is dealt with in 9.9-seconds.

On the strip, the SuperUte will do the quarter-mile run in 12.7-seconds while its top speed would embarrass even some supercars at 282km/h. Other aspects have been accordingly beefed up too with upgraded brakes on the front and rear, compromising of race-spec rotors and four-pot calipers for the front with twin-pot clampers for the rear, sitting behind 20-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Bridgestone RE050 rubbers. Additional add ons that will cost extra coin are a set of Bilstein coilovers and a limited-slip differential for the trackday junkies.

LupiniPower will be the first to admit that they are huge fans of BMW, with Michele Lupini explaining, “It is hugely gratifying to note that M has taken note of a need for such top-end pick-up vehicles, although we do also need to point out that the SuperUte is certainly no joke as our development cycle is now close to being completed and we'll soon be ready to deliver.”

She went on to add that LupiniPower sees the M3 Ute as the only real-world challenger to the SuperUte. If Utes and pick-ups get your automotive juices flowing, then you may want to hurry and order your SuperUte as only a limited amount will be produced by LupiniPower.
