The real identity of The Stig has been officially revealed thanks to an autobiography by the man behind the visor himself. British race driver Ben Collins has revealed details on his role as The Stig for the past seven years in his upcoming book.
The BBC went to great lengths to block the publication of his autobiography, even seeking a court injunction to stop the publication. But the High Court of London denied the injunction so it's now official, Ben Collins is The Stig.
However, the BBC has been known to axe characters in spectacular fashion. Back at the 2002 Season 1 Episode 1 show, Jeremy Clarkson introduced The Stig, originally in a black suit, helmet, gloves and shoes.

Using the shows old Jag, a NOS shot 500hp white Jaguar XJS that was notorious for being quicker than some of the world's top supercars, The Black Stig reached 175km/h when camera's showed the car flying off the runway and into the sea.
A footage was shown of divers retrieving nothing but a black glove.
Ironically, Perry McCarthy, the former F1 driver, also revealed details of his role as The Black Stig in his own autobiography Flat Out, Flat Broke.
Could this court case be part of a massive plot to kill of the current Stig only to replace it with another? Just might be.
