Guys and Gals,
Haven't heard anyone comparing the performance of your car versus the Toyota Vios. Heard that the engine is powerful???

true. 1.5E 960kg 1.5G 980kg. kerb weight. But in the end its all up to the driver's weight lol.. if you fat then no power also... the lighter the car, the more impact the driver/passenger's weight do to the car.

Thanks for sharing...

Anyway, why we choose Vios as a benchmark? Actually, I usually observed that based on the power to weigt ratio, Vios is not too bad and we had an experienced once on the highway where we tried to chase a Vios. We (4 persons) were driving at 190km/h (max) using Nissan Sentra 1.8L but can't seem to overtake Vios and the driver was still in front of us ... that is why I asked anyone tested with Vios before :)

The Vios's engine is using ALU block so its main advantage is light weight. Another thing that add that great punch to its power is the VVT-i.

But would be the result if a Vios against a Suzuki Cappucino 660T. or a Daihatsu YRV 1.3T

Joe,
Do you know the top speed for Vios? I have no idea though... never heard of people going for top speed.

i drive a vios myself.. all i can say this car is powerful in its class (1500cc). Of course u cannot expect a <90K car to perform like a BMW but to hell with it, this car is good for city driving and occasionally rembat-rembat around especially if you do mod the car.

I've got 2 vios in my house and one has some minor modding which is mine (eg. Pivot VS-E, HKS drop-in filter, 16" Sports Rim, front + rear strut bar) and it performs better than the stock one in terms of pick-up. Meanwhile, the stock one doesn't perform too bad either, i've managed to clock 180kmh on the highway but it was too wobbling due to the stock tires and without those strut bar, while i tested on mine and can reach 195kmh and it can still goes but my balls aint made in USA.

Another thing is the Over-Drive, find out that vios 3rd gear is very powerful (and like other forumer mention, is its gear ratio cause the 3rd gear can reach 180kmh and without red-lining yet to my suprise)

Once i manage to outrun a L200 on traffic light and a waja 1.6 (auto, if manual will definitely lose out on start).

Conclusion, this car is good for town driving and to those who occasinally love rembat rembat around town but if u going to compare this car with K20A or 4G9x or K3VET i guess the answer is shown before the comparison.

hey intrigue, vios do turn off the aircond for a moment when you floor the throttle right? i do felt something like that when i test drive it last time, or maybe its my imagination?

not as powerful as i like but its just right for city driving. Steering IMHO is on the heavy side but thats because i'm doing less than 70km/h but i think anything over that should be just fine. I do like the responsive engine though, thanks to vvti.

now i wish 4age also have vvti.. now its just dead without intelligent XD

IMHO, power/weight ratio only apply to pickup...once the said car past the initial inertia then, power/weigth ratio not important anymore...

open criticism welcome...remark above just a 2sen from a newbie

owh k k,it just for fun la.

myvi vs vios.
both had 3 persons in it.

the other car wuz like really slow wit her reaction, maybe she pressed d pedal about a second after the traffic light turns to green.
n i wuz using my handbrake method(the one release d handbrake+release d clutch at the same time).

rain doesnt affect anything jes dat makin my wheels (manual car(mine) ) spin lk hell.

i drive a vios myself for more than a year...
what i could say about the car is that.. for the money u paid.... it is an excellent car.. performance wise? im damn happy with it.. for a 1.5 litre car... it suprise me with the pickup... top speed wise... can reach 190 like one of the member mentioned....
yeap the vios weight less than a tone.. and the ecu is extremely smart.......
i wouldnt compare vios with the likes of putra or gti ....
but if we are comparing in the 1.5 litre category... i would say vios is definetely in a class of its own...
just my own point of view :)

my only complain is the tax lolx. if there's no heavy tax, only few percent or something, then we can get the car like what? 60k? thought i saw the pre-taxed price is like 50k something...

Final answer: Vios is worth buying huh? But I don't see any second-hand vios on sale :)

Anyway, about the air cond automatically being cut-off once the pedal is floored, I heard once fr my friend but is it true??

How about the fuel consumption huh? Can it be City or Savvy like what the ad says "8cents per km"??

I am driving a GSR and the fuel consumption is like 20cents per km...
