A lot of us car enthusiasts love our cars more than our wife (some says so)

Most of us did spend lots of money on purchasing expensive imported rims. Even if is not
very expensive, many would also feel the pain if our beautiful rims are scratched. Be it
Taiwan Rims, Japan Rims and etcs.

So, other than repairing the rims or respray our rims. Is there any other way to protect it?

Good news, not sure how many of you know about this. But came across this website
talking about a product call PRODUBS that can fit sizes as small as 14" - 22".

I don't think is a new product since the post was year 2011 but I only discover it now.
So, for those who have not heard about it, then is good to read on.

Pro-Dubs are custom rim protectors made in the USA, and offer the easiest and
most convenient form of wheel protection in the market today. Designed and
manufactured in the United States, Pro-Dubs prevent the outermost edge of the
wheel from impacting the curb by absorbing the damage. So, ‘custom wheel
loving’ Malaysians have to worry no more as the highly durable ProDubs safely
protects your costly investment.

So how do they work? Pro-Dubs sits between the wheel and tire, and on top of the
flange of the wheel; traditionally the area of the wheel that ends up getting scratched
which is more commonly known as curb rash.

This usually happens when the edge of the rim comes into contact with the curb,
most commonly occurring while parallel parking or pulling alongside to a curb. It
can also happen when the car makes a turn too early, resulting in going over a
curb or just sliding off.

Pro-Dubs are offered in a one-size-fits-all system and can fit rims up to 22”.
They are easy to fit and installation does not require the wheel unit to be
removed or disassembled.

Installation is easy enough to do yourself, though a professional installation
through a network of dealers and installers is recommended. Furthermore,
the product does not affect rotation or balancing of the wheel nor will it cause
air leakage. It’s also tested to withstand high speeds, extreme heat and is
compatible with run-flat tires.

Pro-Dubs fit all wheels including OEM and after-market brands except for
certain after-market designs where the spokes sit on top of the flange.
Pro-Dubs also cannot fit properly if the tire is under-sized, width wise,
but will work on normal/recommended sized and oversized tires
width wise.

Pro-Dubs can protect a wheel more than once against curb rash while OEM
manufacturers recommended that a rim be replaced after four refurbishments.
Pro-Dubs only protects the finishing of the rim and does not protect the structural
integrity of a wheel against impact, though tests have indicated a wheel’s
structural integrity will fare better on impact with Pro-Dubs installed. For
instance, Pro-Dubs does offer some mild form of protection against potholes
but deformation is still possible.

Pro-Dubs retails at RM570/set of four and in case of severe damage, you
can also buy a single replacement strip. For more information, visit Index of /.

Alternative product of this, you able to source from AlloyGator (search in net).
They have several choice and additional items...
Price also competitive... unfortunately my rims unable to fit this thingy...

Another choice to protect you rim by up sizing your tire width.
Eg. the rim able to fit 235inch put in 245inch..

Maybe, but i think is useful product...since most of us do scrape our rims by accident due to those
curbs that we cant see....only happens usually when parking...

This is good for light scratches. If hard knock also won't protect. More over with that cost, good for those expensive rims above RM5k. 15" rims costly below RM1k who would want to fit, might as well change the rims....
