Hi all. I'm planning to change my stock 14" rims to 15". I roughly know the design of the rims I want (but not sure which brands are available for this specific design) but I'm unsure about tires I should use. Maybe either 185/55R15 or 195/50R15. And hence, the creation of this post. Mind giving some opinions on which one (and the brand as well) should I go for a comfort quiet ride?

Thanks in advance.

Myvi original is 175/65R14 so 185/55R15 is closer to your original diameter. 195/50R15 is slightly smaller.
Since you mention comfort quiet ride, 185/55R15 will have more comfort with 55 aspect ratio sidewall.
However if performance then 195/50R15 will be better. Wider pattern for more traction, 50 series for better handling.
Some prices as follows:
185/55R15
Michelin PS3 - RM250 Hup Shun SS3 (incl. valves & balancing) (Jan 12)
Michelin PS3 - RM229 Modern Tyres, Seremban Jaya (Dec 11)
Michelin PS3 - RM230 Ban Hooi,Klang (Mar 12)
Silverstone Synergy M5 - RM210 Tek Ming Auto Bdr Sunway (Nov 11)

195/50R15
Bridgestone Potenza RE002 - RM290 Hin Leong (Feb 12)
Bridgestone MY01 - RM175 Hin Leong (Dec 11)
ContinentalComfortContact5 - RM235 Mechanikar (Jan 12)
Falken ZE-912 - RM145 Hin Leong (Jan 12)
Goodyear F1 Directional 5 - RM260 Quicksave USJ (Sep 11)
Goodyear F1 Directional 5 - RM245 Ban Hooi (Dec 11)
Goodyear F1 Directional 5 - RM253 Hin Leong (Dec 11)
Goodyear Assurance - RM198 Hin Leong (Dec 11)
Michelin PS3 - RM250 Ban Hooi (Dec 11)
Michelin PS3 - RM238 Hin Leong (Feb 12)
Toyo T1R - RM260 Hin Leong (Dec 11)

I ended up with Advan Racing 15" and Michelin PS3 195/50/R15.

However, when I got out to the highway I felt vibration when I'm driving about 110km/h which did not happen before changing the rims and tires. This is mostly due to the balancing right?
Hey, where did you get this set of wheels?

Planning to upsize mine to 15" and was thinking of 195/55/R15 as well. With a budget of say plus minus RM200 (maximum around RM220) per piece, what are some options I have? Any list of tires from RM200 below all the way up to the maximum I'm willing to fork out at RM220 per piece?

Also, while 195/55/R15 seems to be good, why are many shops recommending 195/50/R15 instead?

Your opinions are very much appreciated.
use achilless atr sport 195/55/15 around below rm200 each...or yokohama parada 195/50/15..the price in the same range....kl rate....

15 inch 8jj offset 20,myvi1.5 not lowered, tyre 195/55/15 will this type of set up can fit into myvi nicely? any problem with that?:adore:
8JJ to wide for 195 size tyres. 6 to 6.5J is enough.
Again offset 20 is too far out. Myvi, if not mistaken use offset 40 just nice

Can't help you with rim design. You have to see it to love it. However for Myvi you have to keep the offset at around 40 or slightly more.

if offset 35 cannot? why? :hmmmm: cause i saw few myvi with bbs rim offset 35.. so if we put offset 35 what will happen?
Offset 35 will look better with wheels coming out more. Problems faced will be tyre scrubbing the rear wheel outer fender, if use 195/55R15 when carrying heavy load.
195/50R15 maybe okay.
You can try rolling the fender or using stiffer springs.....

Hi all, I am currently on 195/55/R15 (rim is 6.5jj width and 37mm offset, using Eibach Pro-Kit springs on stock absorbers which I get about 3 fingers gap for the rear. When there's no load behind then it is fine but if I carry just 1 person behind also I tend to hear some sort of sound from the rear when the road is uneven or very rough.

I know 195/55/R15 isn't exactly the ideal size but I like it for its balance of performance and comfort and also it fills up the fender area nicely.

What are the possible solutions for this apart from changing back to 195/50?
