When upgrading Rim's and Tyres what sizes should we use???

I have run the car with a few configurations so waht are your suggestions???

Currently i am runing 15" x 7" offset 42. Tyre Size is 195/55/R15.

- I am getting a little bit of rubbing here.
-The tyre overall size is slightly bigger and fills up the gaps. Appearance wise is much nicer, but you get a little rubbing.
- Should i go down to 15" x 6.5" offset 42 to reduce the rubbing?
- Currently, i feel that my ride hight is a little to high and would like to lower it further.

Previous Configuration was 15" x 7" offset 42. Tyre Size was 195/50/R15.
- With the much lower setting, the ride was much better lower without any rubbing.

the main Question here is wether my tyre size choice was good or bad? Can i correct it by dropping the width of the rim?
