detuning sr20det auto

i'm planning to buy used nissan terrano and change into sr20det auto

but terrano weight will make this engine struggle

terrano weight= 1540 kg - 4x4 system about 100 kg =1440 kg curb weight

nissan silvia = 1200 -1300 kg

my question is;

is that possibble to detuning sr20det to get low end power ?high torque at lower rpm

need to change turbo n intercooler system?

or this suggestion is impossible to implement?

i'm not speed demon ,just need for daily drive

Diesel Terrano

Keep the diesel less hassle, tuned up the engine for a little more omph. Good for daily usage and reliability

as in stock form less headache.

Petrol Terrano

Swapping in the SR20DET would do the car good, as it is an upgrade from the stock 2.4l petrol, with sr20

more power because of turbo & also more torque. Engine would not suffer as there are many sr20 in 4x4.

Only thing to consider is your right foot cause it would cost you more petrol now.

diesel,td27 is too noisy when at 100 km/j.

less car use that engine mean less parts availability

h/c sr auto=4k

in order to detune sr20det i need change smaller tebo.any recomment?

how about an intercooler,need to change too?

i read somewhere if i want to swap with diesel engine,my terrano will not get green engine status and may pay higher roadtax than normal rate.is that true?

If you detune your SR you might get frustrated at the lack of power bro...


Which SR20 you getting? From S13, 14 or 15 halfcut?

dont change to smaller turbo.just change the same size turbo with ballbearing. Thats sufficient, if not one day you would like to tekan till 5krpm or more,u'll feel the car has no power at all.
