It’s safe to suffice that the interwebs were rocked off their foundations by spy shots of a BMW M3, in pick-up form no less, tearing up the Nurburgring. The speculation mill shifted into warp speed and immediately started churning out anything and everything that could seemingly justify what was in the pictures.

Some of us were left speechless by an M3 with a flatbed behind the cabin while those Down Under were leaping with joy at another possible ute for them to haul awesome in. Nonetheless, an official from BMW has finally cleared the mist by confirming that the M# pick-up is an April Fools joke by an automaker with more money and time on its hands.

The M3 ute will however be used by BMW for promotional purposes and will make appearances at some of their events around Europe. Still, for those of you that get a warm tingly sensation at the sight of high-powered utes or wagons should click on the video of the M3 ute cavorting around the Nurburgring.
